OVERVIEW
The Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) Operating Room Expansion project at the University of Utah included the addition of two new operating rooms, one of which was specially fitted for robotic surgeries, both equipped with integral light and air diffusers to ensure optimal surgical conditions. It also included a new breakroom, conference room, anesthesia workroom, and trash room along with the remodel of the dirty intake room. The 7,200 SF of construction had to be executed within a sterile environment with operations ongoing throughout the process.
The Gramoll team implemented strategic phasing, extensive temporary protection measures, and soundproofing to minimize disruptions and maintain the integrity of the sterile environment. Phasing the project allowed for seamless transitions to temporary areas while the final space was completed. The team worked closely with the nursing staff to schedule construction activities. Through careful planning and execution, the team successfully completed the project without any interruptions to operations.
