OVERVIEW
The Jordanelle State Park Dock Replacement project, commissioned by the Utah Department of Natural Resources, involved the construction of a state-of-the-art floating dock system at Jordanelle Reservoir. This ambitious project delivered 10,000 square feet of usable dock space, significantly enhancing the park’s recreational facilities and boating capabilities.
One challenge of this project was the floating construction method, which required our team to work both above and below water levels. This approach demanded specialized skills and equipment to ensure structural integrity while adapting to the reservoir’s changing conditions. To address safety concerns associated with water-based electrical systems, we implemented rigorous electrical bonding requirements, ensuring the safety of all dock users.
The project’s schedule was tailored to accommodate the fluctuating water levels and seasonal conditions at Jordanelle Reservoir. Our team’s flexibility and strategic planning were crucial in navigating these environmental variables while maintaining project timelines.
The new dock system features 80 slips designed for yearly leases, providing a stable revenue stream for the park. A lockable security gate was installed to protect these long-term boat storage areas, offering peace of mind to slip renters.
A notable technical aspect of the project was the installation of 20 heavy-duty, 5-ton winches utilizing 5/8″ galvanized cable. These winches play a crucial role in the dock’s ability to adapt to changing water levels, ensuring the structure remains stable and functional year-round.
This project showcases Gramoll Construction’s ability to execute complex, environmentally sensitive projects while meeting the specific needs of state agencies and outdoor recreation facilities. The new dock system at Jordanelle State Park not only enhances the visitor experience but also demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality, durable infrastructure in challenging environments.
